Pepra is used to treat gastroesophageal reflux disease and erosive esophagitis, which is related to damage to the esophageal tissues as a result of irritation and erosion. It also treats diseases of excessive acid secretion such as Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. This rare medical condition refers to a continuous increase in the production of stomach acid, which may lead to many health complications. Pepra treats gastric and duodenal ulcers according to their location associated with increased acid secretion and their ability to prevent the ulcer from returning after treatment. The drug treats stomach ulcers resulting from the use of painkillers from the NSAIDs class. These ulcers are considered to be the result of chronic use of these painkillers without sufficient caution regarding their potential harmful effects on the stomach walls.
